Stephen turned 27 exactly a month ago today! To celebrate his birthday, we spent a wonderful and relaxing weekend in Raleigh, NC. We’re at an interesting point in our lives, because we don’t know where we want to move next. We are currently in a temporary place about 45 minutes south of Asheville, but we want to relocate to a bigger urban area within the next year. So the trip to Raleigh really had a dual purpose!
To say that August 29, 2015 was the best day of my life is definitely an understatement! To be totally honest, I have trouble writing about our wedding. I simply don’t have enough faith in my word-craftsmanship. Trying to depict that beautiful day through my writing would be like attempting to recreate the statue of David with a chainsaw, or the Mona Lisa with a twelve-pack of Crayolas.
Did anyone read the kids’ book The Mudflat Olympics when they were little? If you didn’t, let me catch you up to speed: the animals are competing in (you guessed it!) the Mudflat Olympics and the antagonist is a really competitive machiavellian crocodile named Crocker. He plays dirty to win and as he crosses the finish line: “‘HOORAY FOR CROCKER!!!’ shouted Crocker.”
I feel like one of the biggest mental blocks people have when it comes to being healthy and in shape is that it’s “expensive.” We see the trendy organic juice bars on Instagram, we have friends who swear by their $30 per class visits to Soul Cycle, and we are encouraged to think new Lululemon will force us into the gym.
