Did anyone read the kids’ book The Mudflat Olympics when they were little?
If you didn’t, let me catch you up to speed: the animals are competing in (you guessed it!) the Mudflat Olympics and the antagonist is a really competitive machiavellian crocodile named Crocker. He plays dirty to win and as he crosses the finish line:
“‘HOORAY FOR CROCKER!!!’ shouted Crocker.”
Fantastic line if you ask me, and it became a big inside joke in our household. If you ever hear someone in the Schuller family get brag-y or conceited, I give you my blessing to raise your eyebrow at them and say,
“HOORAY FOR CROCKER!!! …….shouted Crocker.”
So why am I telling you about family inside jokes (that aren’t even that funny in print)?
Because I am about to brag.
This smoothie bowl I created is GOOD, y’all! As in, delicious! As in, so good you almost forget how healthy it is, except for the fact that you feel amazing after eating it!
So let’s get started:
- 1 Frozen banana
- 1/2 Avocado
- 1/3 Cucumber, peeled
- 7 Frozen strawberries
- 1 tsp acai powder (I use this brand)
- 1 tsp maca powder (I use this band)
- 1/4 teaspoon Blue Green Algae (I use this brand. I was turned onto it by my mom, who was on the algae wagon long before the VS Angels were! One of my girlfriends also recently recommended Organic Burst brand Chlorella, which I’m going to add to my algae shelf soon. She also said their maca and baobab are great, so there’s a good chance I’m going on an Organic Burst shopping rampage in the near future!)
- A shake of cinnamon
- Unsweetened coconut milk beverage (Amount varies depending if you want to eat it out of a bowl like me or make it thinner and drink it as a smoothie. I use this brand, although I have no idea why Amazon lists it at $11. I get mine at the grocery store for three or four bucks.)
Blend it up!!! Then decorate it with a pretty little crunch of goodness:
- Instant oats
I’ve spent a long time trying to discover/invent the perfect foods that will keep my belly full and waistline lean–while also giving my tastebuds a say in the matter. I would try to be modest, but I’m not gonna [refined] sugar coat this for you guys: This smoothie bowl is absolutely AMAZING and gonna rock your world!!!
HOORAY FOR MAYA!!!!! ….shouted Maya 😉
Xx, Your New Favorite Person
p.s. Did anyone else shop the Macy’s sale yesterday?? I snagged this cute navy and white striped romper, this breezy cotton number (Probably my favorite of the three things. I LOVE the sweet neckline, and the color combination is so soothing– like seashells, sky, and the beach!) and this dainty floral off-the-shoulder top in the Ivory/Blush color combo.
And the total for all three things (with the code) was… drumroll please… ONLY $43 DOLLARS!!! I think the extra 25% off sale is over, but there’s still a lot of cute stuff marked down if you guys wanna check it out! I also debated getting this lilac peasant blouse, but it was too similar to the blush one.
However, my far more exciting purchase yesterday was my plane ticket to my friend Avery’s June 4th wedding! And my hotel room and rental car! It was actually my first time booking a rental car…. #adulting.
I am SO EXCITED!!! Avery is one of the most inspiring people I know; she radiates positivity, life enthusiasm and genuine warmth. She and her almost-hubby Nick are high school sweethearts who started dating at Prom– can you get ANY cuter?! <3
Stephen can’t come because of work, but I’m really looking forward to rooming with my friends Lindsey and Hailey. We were all in the same Delta Gamma pledge class together with Avery! I feel like I haven’t seen them in a really long time, even though they all came to my wedding in August. But when you’re the bride you see everyone for like seven minutes each (max!) and don’t get to thoroughly catch up. So I’m excited to see Hailey and Lindsey, and of course the sweet bride! (I’m sure the big day will be just as busy for her, but we’ve recently caught up a little over text as well.)
I’m still debating whether or not I should get a new dress for the wedding. I have a couple things already in my closet that would be fine. However, I’ve also got my eye on this old fashioned but chic “Wallpaper Print” number, this cold shoulder mint green chiffon dress, and this atypical-for-a-wedding but incredible matching set (is it weird to wear that to a wedding?! I’m kinda obsessed with it…)
Okay this is getting to be a long postscript… Bye for real!
p.p.s. I lied!! I can’t finish the post without telling you that the wily Crocker repents and makes friends with the other animals. Whew! Now you don’t have to lose sleep over that one 😉
