The warm weather is here to stay, you guys!! And what better way to relish in the dewey green season than a nice summer spritzer on the balcony?
I’ve been enjoying little half white wine, half coconut La Croix drinks a lot lately. It’s such a scrumptious way to enjoy cocktail hour without getting too crazy on a weeknight! 😉Off-the-shoulder tops are one of the biggest trends this spring, and I love the breezy yet elegant silhouettes. Showing a little collarbone and bronzed summer skin is the perfect amount of sexy. I felt lucky to snag my new favorite top during the recent Macy’s sale for only $16.99!
I adore the Bardot tops that I have been seeing everywhere, but I thought these tiny straps would be nice for my first off-the-shoulder purchase of the season. Since I have fairly narrow shoulders and a small chest, they’re a foolproof way to ensure it stays up! In the same order as this top, I also snagged this super cute cotton striped romper in the Beige/Coral color combo ($27!) and this crisp navy-and-white number ($14.99!). I was so excited to discover all three already-cute pieces are even cuter in person!
Just keep in mind if you get one of them that they are technically Juniors’ and run smaller than Women’s. I got a size Small for all three items but in retrospect I definitely could have grabbed a Medium for the first romper. The excellent quality of the three pieces was a nice little reminder that I should diversify my online shopping a bit. I feel like a lot of times I’ll head straight to the Forever 21 site when it comes to specific trends that might only last a season. It can be really nice to have a handful of sunny little gems you won’t mourn too hard in the event of a spilled daiquiri or just a little too much chlorine/sand/salt/sun/summer 🙂
For example, items like this sweet ruffled yellow and white floral romper (only $19.90!) make for a playful and carefree summer look without breaking the bank. And I’m still a little wary of the lace-up trend, but I’m thinking of testing it out with this light nude colored lace maxi for $35.
(Did anyone else dislike the lace-up trend when it first happened? I feel like such a fashion victim because at first I was like “YUCK” but then it grew on me… The lace-up detail is kinda subtle on the dress I’m considering, and I love the serene color, lace, and tiny tassels– another big trend this season. Might be a good “try it and see” item…? This quirky cactus romper with a small lace-up detail could be fun as well!)That being said (back to my main point after a 2 paragraph digression lol), I was definitely reminded of the inevitable quality difference when my three new department store items arrived–not to mention that on-sale Macy’s and Nordstrom stuff is often the same as regularly-priced fast fashion stuff!
I hope you all had an amazing start to your week and an awesome weekend! I shopped the Boohoo sale, slept in, edited photos, made tequila lemon strawberry slushies, fell off my chair laughing when Stephen showed me the Bad Moms trailer, shopped the 24 hour Organic Burst popup sale, and got to the ending of this book (not in that order haha). My current read is taking me forever to actually finish (did you see my brief reference to it way back in the Lounge & Lingerie & Life Lessons post?) because I’ve been spending all my time blogging and lurking other blogs! I feel like I’m cheating on my longtime boyfriend F. Scott by taking so long to read one of his masterpieces– the internet is a cheap whore! 😉
AND the most exciting news items of the last 3 days are:
1) my hardworking hubby got himself a big new client!!!
