Navy Striped Romper

Navy Striped Romper | Maya UnMarketed

I have a question:

When did things become “stripe” instead of “striped”? Or “scallop” instead of “scalloped,” etc.?

DSC_3000DSC_3012DSC_2982 As a lifelong language lover and {recovering} Creature of Habit, I couldn’t help but notice the shift during recent perusals of other blogs and of course online shopping sites. At some point in recent-ish history things became double nouns (“stripe” and “romper”) instead of adjectives followed by nouns (“striped romper”). Or maybe the stripes rebelled against being portrayed in the past tense?!?

I’m not sure if I’m okay with all this… 😉

What do you think sounds more appealing, “navy stripe romper” or “navy striped romper?”

Either way, I love this classic, somewhat nautical little number, a recent Macy’s buy that’s unfortunately out of stock. I linked it in case it comes back in stock, but there are seriously so many beautiful summer stripes (did you see yesterday’s amazing $10 and under picks?) to choose from either way!

If you like my romper, then you’ll probably also love the following navy and white rompers:

  1. This one with cami straps and delicate buttons ($20)
  2. This flowy, long sleeved (sleeve?! lol) option that incorporates a little green ($27)
  3. This casual yet polished pin-striped summer staple ($49)
  4. This breezy linen-blend is probably more blue than navy, but I really love it! So cute and comfy looking, plus $26 is a great price for something that’s 55% linen…

I wore this outfit when Stephen and I had dinner with his grandparents this past weekend! I know it probably looks a little short in the pictures of me sitting down (I had every intention of wearing my more-conservative blue paisley sundress) BUT it was so hot I think I would have melted in anything else.DSC_3071

I was glad I had my lightweight white cardigan ($9) for being indoors in the AC though! And I just can’t get enough of my new brown sandals ($20). I have my eye these tassel ones ($28) too…

I grabbed the mules (not online; a $5 steal from the local Cato!! Similar, but less affordable here) because I wanted another option for date night afterwards, but I ended up feeling like the flat sandals matched the vibe of the outfit better. DSC_3003

We saw The Conjuring 2 and it was excellently done. I’m not a scary movie person, but I can appreciate a good film of any genre– even if the genre gives me two hours worth of terror-stricken anxiousness. When I got home, I realized half my mascara was rubbed off my right eye because I kept launching myself sideways to bury my face in Stephen’s shoulder.

Speaking of ruined mascara, I really want to see Me Before You! Have any of you seen it?

I read the book this past winter after my friend Ashton recommended it and it was absolutely incredible. (If you haven’t read it yet, I’d definitely do so before seeing the movie!). Plus I’ve never seen Emilia Clarke in a role other than Khaleesi and I’m looking forward to that. She is so stunning!DSC_3066I hope you’re all having an amazing day! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! <3

Xx, Maya

p.s. I think this romper would look even better with a little belt! I’ll probably wear it with my slim red one for the fourth of July… That’s part of what I love about the first romper of the four I linked earlier– the fact that it has a flattering sash around the waist.
